🔥 Phoenix — Our Wild Heart

Phoenix is the last of our rescued mustangs, and she has stayed true to her independent, free-spirited nature. While she now wears a halter and allows handling, she’s not yet fully comfortable giving her head or fully trusting human guidance. Even so, she’s made remarkable progress—she can be tied, brushed, have her feet picked, and even stand for the farrier.

Phoenix will need an adopter with extensive horse experience, deep patience, and a gentle hand—someone who understands the language of a mustang and is willing to earn her trust one quiet moment at a time. With the right person, we believe Phoenix will blossom into the incredible partner we all know she can be. She’s on the verge of turning that corner, and when she does, it will be nothing short of magic.

Flower is a sweet and gentle mare whose loving former owner wanted nothing but the best for her, no matter what that meant. She came to Pride & Joy Rescue with a severe case of heaves (COPD), and the 2025 season brought some of the toughest breathing conditions we’ve seen in years.

🌸 Flower — Our Brave Fighter

Flower is a sweet and gentle mare whose loving former owner wanted nothing but the best for her, no matter what that meant. She came to Pride & Joy Rescue with a severe case of heaves (COPD), and the 2025 season brought some of the toughest breathing conditions we’ve seen in years.

With ongoing veterinary care, constant monitoring, and around-the-clock, forage-based feedings, Flower receives the specialized support she needs to stay comfortable. She also receives medications and regular breathing treatments to help her manage her condition.

Connie stays in close contact with our veterinary team, ensuring Flower’s care plan adjusts daily as needed. Despite her challenges, Flower continues to show her gentle heart and resilient spirit—and we’re hopeful that with the cooler weather and continued care, she’ll soon find some well-deserved relief.

Sully joined Pride and Joy Rescue from a fellow rescuer who knew he needed a place that could give him more than just shelter — a place that could give him understanding. At only four years old, Sully was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes, making the world a little hazy but never dimming his spirit.

From the moment he arrived, Sully has shown a calm, trusting nature that captures hearts instantly. He quickly bonded with Flower, another horse with limited eyesight, and the two now navigate their days side by side — proving that true friendship doesn’t need sight, only connection.

Though his vision may be clouded, Sully sees life through a lens of peace and quiet courage. He’s a gentle reminder that resilience comes in many forms — and that love and safety can turn even the hardest beginnings into something beautiful.

â€œStrength isn’t always loud — sometimes, it’s found in soft steps and steady hearts.
