Lady and Ashleeâs story is one of resilience, passion, and an unbreakable bond born from challenge and care. When Lady arrived at Pride & Joy Rescue, she was suffering from a severe proud flesh injury on her back left leg that required extensive surgeryâone that went all the way to the bone to remove the damaged tissue. What followed were months of medical care, stall rest, and constant attention to prevent the proud flesh from returning.
Through that long, difficult recovery, something remarkable happened. Ashlee was there every step of the way, providing comfort, patience, and love. From the very beginning, Lady seemed to know she could trust her. Over time, their connection deepened into something truly specialâa partnership built on understanding and mutual strength.
Today, Ladyâs recovery and Ashleeâs devotion stand as a beautiful reminder of what compassion can accomplish. Their journey shows that healing is not just physicalâitâs also about the love that grows when two souls refuse to give up on each other.

Cyniah has been part of Pride & Joy Rescue for more than two years, learning the ins and outs of rescue life and the deep care our animals require. Java, on the other hand, has called the rescue home since 2020. From the start, Java was a tough mare to impressâshe met plenty of people over the years and made it clear she hadnât yet found her person.
But everything changed when Cyniah came along. As Cyniah grew in confidence and skill, something beautiful began to happen. Java, once guarded and distant, started lowering her head, following Cyniah, and seeking her attention. It was clear they shared something special.
When Cyniahâs mom decided to lease Java for her, it sealed a bond that had already formed naturally. From that moment on, their connection has been pure magic. Java had finally found her personâand Cyniah found a lifelong partner in return.

After adoption, Miracle stayed at the rescue for a little while longer so Kenzie could experience the daily care and commitment required to keep a horse healthy and happy. It quickly became a family effort, with everyone joining in on the adventure.
Watching Kenzie and Miracle grow together and shine at events this year has been pure joy for all of us. Their bond is inspiring, and weâll always be in the stands cheering them onâbecause once a Pride & Joy family, always a Pride & Joy family.
